Juba, April 27, 2026 (SSNA) — A small passenger plane crashed on the outskirts of Juba on Monday, April 27, 2026, killing all 14 people on board, according to local officials.

The aircraft, identified as a light Cessna aircraft, went down roughly 20 kilometers southwest of the capital shortly after takeoff. Authorities said the victims included 13 passengers and the pilot, and there were no survivors. Officials added that the dead include at least two nationals of Kenya.

Authorities say poor weather conditions and low visibility may have contributed to the crash, though an official investigation is underway to determine the exact cause.

Air accidents involving small aircraft are not uncommon in South Sudan, where aviation infrastructure and safety oversight remain limited.
